Imports Still Bigger than Exports
The Austrian external trade increases moderately in the first half of 2012. Export growth was slightly higher than import growth.

According to preliminary results by Statistics Austria, total imports amounted to € 65.26bn and total exports amounted to € 61.54bn in the period January to June 2012. Austrian imports increased by 1.1% and Austrian exports rose by 1.6% compared to the same period in 2011. The global foreign trade balance showed a deficit of € 3.72bn.
