Austrian Foreign Trade Figures Flattening

After record results in 2011, the growth in Austrian foreign trade was substantially down in the first months of 2012. Austrian politics promotes exports to non-European markets like China, Brazil and the U.S.

Despite the uncertain economic development and the small economic growth, Austrian exports were up by 11.7% last year. After exports reached € 122.2bn in 2011, the trend for 2012 is significantly less dynamic. In the first quarter of 2012, exports reached € 30.7bn and only grew by 2.8%.
