Hungary´s Budget Deficit Below 3.0%

The EU Commission estimates that Hungary´s budget deficit will comply with the Maastricht Criteria in 2012 and 2013. However, the deficit may exceed the 3.0% threshold in 2014.

The austerity policy of the Hungarian government will cut the budget deficit below 3.0% this year and in 2013. The Commission forecasts that the deficit will come at 2.5% this year. In 2013, the deficit is expected to grow to 2.9%. One year later, the figure is estimated to grow further to 3.5%.
