Hungary May Reprogram EU Regional Aid

Hungary is faced with the reprograming of up to 5 percent or a volume of up to € 250m of its current EU regional aid.

EU Commissioner for Regional Policy Johannes Hahn and the respective state secretary Janoz Lazar have come to a joint agreement on Monday. Hahn announced that the EU Commission has expressed its concern in regar tjo the old system for the tender of contracts in Hungary.

“The money, that has been corrected, is not lost. Hungary has invested it in other projects,” Hahn said. The EU Commission is expecting the respective applications within the following weeks. According to Han, 90 percent of all public investments in Hungary were supported by the EU structural funds.
