Croatian Parliament Abolishes 6% Mobile Service Tax

The local subsidiary of Telekom Austria benefits from the abolition of the special tax which caused expenses of € 15.2m in 2010.

Today, the Telekom Austria Group informed that the Croatian Parliament decided to abolish the 6% tax on mobile network service revenues as of 1 January 2012.

On 1 August 2009 a 6% tax had been introduced for all mobile operators in Croatia as a measure against the economic crisis. The tax was applicable on revenues generated by mobile services, i.e. voice, SMS and MMS, and was payable by the mobile operator.

Vipnet, the Croatian subsidiary of Telekom Austria Group, recorded a mobile tax expense of € 15.2m in the full year 2010. Revenue amounted to € 451.9m (-5.2% against 2009) and operating income was € 82.9m (-17.8%).
