Bulgaria: Moderate Increase in External Debt

The gross external debt1 amounted to € 36,668.7m (92.8% of GDP2) at end-October 2012 increasing by EUR 823.2m (2.3%) from end-2011 (EUR 35,845.5m, 93.1% of GDP).

On a year-on-year basis it increased by € 496.4m (1.4%) (from € 36,172.2m). The long-term liabilities amounted to € 26,999.8m (73.6% of the total debt, 68.3% of GDP) at end-October 2012, and short-term liabilities equalled € 9,668.9m (26.4% of the total debt, 24.5% of GDP).
