The Finance Ministers of the Eurogroup countries are discussing the future of the banking union in Brussels today.

The timetable for the banking union is very ambitious. The bank supervision system and the common winding-up mechanism are already resolved. After the Finance Ministers have found a compromise on the first and the second pillar of the banking union, they will discuss the final finish. The third pillar, which consists of a the common bank resolution fund, is not cleared yet.
