Austria: Decreasing Production Trends in Industry and Construction

62.295 enterprises (+1.3% compared to the previous year) in the entire industry and construction sector turned over a total of €80.2 bn (-0.1%) from January until April 2014, coupled with slightly decreasing employment (907 384 persons, -0.2%).

January until April 2014: slightly decreasing production trends (-0.1%) in industry and construction; turnover -0.1%

According to calculations by Statistics Austria, the 62.295 enterprises (+1.3% compared to the previous year) in the entire industry and construction sector turned over a total of €80.2 bn (-0.1%) from January until April 2014, coupled with slightly decreasing employment (907 384 persons, -0.2%).

At establishment level (62 915 establishments, +1.2%), production sold slightly declined in comparison to previous year’s level and amounted to €79.2 bn (-0.1%) in nominal terms (employing 908 275 persons, -0.1%). Industrial production sold decreased by 1.2%.

The 32.712 Austrian construction establishments (+2.3%) achieved a production sold of €10.5 bn in the reporting period January until April 2014; this corresponds to an increase of 7.7% compared to the previous year.

At the end of April 2014, Austrian construction companies (not including construction auxiliary trades) had an order book totalling about €11.1 bn (+8.9% y. o. y.).
