Compared internationally, the Austrian population has a very low interest in the stock market. Only 13% invest in shares or funds.

According to a survey conducted by the opinion research institute IMAS International for the Austrian Aktienforum, the number of Austrians who invest in shares and equity funds amounts to 967,000 or 16% of the population over 16 years of age. 345,000 people or 5% of the population have a direct stake in public companies.
