Milos Zeman will become the next President of the Czech Republic. His rival Karel Schwarzenberg has already recognized his defeat.

For the first time in the Czech Republic´s history, the President was elected directly by the people. After two election rounds, the former Prime Minister Milos Zeman is the clear winner. 54.9% of the voters were in favor of Zeman, Schwarzenberg came at 45.1% of the votes.
