According to numerous non-governmental organizations (NGOs), the human rights situation in Austria continues to leave much to be desired. In the run-up to the United Nations' Universal Periodic Review (UPR), more than 300 civil society organizations issued a joint statement addressing an impressive 159 demands to the Austrian government.
