Women´s Income Below Men

In Austria, the annual income of women is still considerably below men. However, this is mainly due to part time work. Male employees in private sector are top earners.

The median annual income for the 3.9m employees was € 24 516 in 2010, as Statistics Austria reports. If part-time work and employees who are not employed year-round are excluded, the median annual income was € 35 474. The income of women (€ 18 270) was still considerably lower than the income of men (€ 30 316).
