Aiginger explained that higher property taxes may allow the Austrian government to lower wage taxes. Moreover, the construction of social housing must receive stronger support, Aiginger says. An increase of the property tax may generate a tax intake of more than € 1.0bn, the economist argues. But also inheritance taxes should increase, he says.
