Karl Aiginger, CEO of the Austrian Institute of Economic Research calls for a significant increase in taxation of real estate and fuel.

For Aiginger, the taxation on the fuel price is too low – taxes should rise by 6% annually. “The fuel price shall persistently rise twice as much as the inflation rate.” Also consumers of tobacco products shall experience a further tax increase. For the director of the WIFO institute, the tax system has to be more ecological.
