Turkey: Verbund Fails in Privatization

The Austrian-Turkish joint venture was unable to participate in the privatization of the Turkish power grids. The Group's objectives remain valid nonetheless.

The Austrian electricity company Verbund operates in Turkey through the joint venture Enerjisa Elektrik Dagitim, operated jointly with the Turkish partner Sabanci Holding. At the for now final round of the privatization of the Turkish power grids, the joint venture was not able to achieve any acquisitions. Enerjisa had to stop when the bids went higher than € 1.5bn.
