Strong Growth in Foreign Trade in the First Quarter of 2011

Austrian imports and exports increased by 22% in the first three month of the year. In March, trade volume amounted to more than € 11bn in both directions.

According to preliminary results by Statistics Austria, total imports amounted to € 31.04bn and total exports amounted to € 29.53bn in the period January to March 2011. Austrian imports increased by 22.6% and Austrian exports rose by 22.2% compared to the first quarter of 2010.
