Smurfit Kappa Nettingsdorfer, Austria's leading manufacturer of corrugated cardboard base paper, has reported a production record for the financial year just passed. For the first time ever in its 160-year history the company's annual production of its main product kraftliner (unbleached, environmentally compatible corrugated cardboard base paper) exceeded 400,000 tonnes.

The total annual production for 2010 therefore amounted to 425,000 tonnes/year which also shows an increase. Turnover in 2009 amounted to € 153m (2008: € 197m, 2007: € 210m).

With a workforce of 360, Smurfit Kappa Nettingsdorfer is one of the largest, most productive and most successful sites of the Smurfit Kappa Group, world leader in corrugated cardboard packaging, and stands out due to its extremely environmentally compatible production methods.

Smurfit Kappa Nettingsdorfer is a member of the worldwide Smurfit Kappa Group and occupies one of the group's largest European sites. With 40,000 employees in over 30 countries (22 in Europe), the Smurfit Kappa Group has achieved a turnover of seven € 7.0bn as a leading packaging company. Since it was founded in 1851, the Nettingsdorfer Papierfabrik company has grown to be one of the leading manufacturers of corrugated cardboard base paper in Europe.

Annual production amounts to 420,000 tonnes/year. In addition to Austria, the main markets are the neighbouring Central European countries within a 600 km radius. Exports account for 85% of turnover. 360 individuals were employed on the site in 2010.
