For the first time in the Serbian history, a privately held bank loses its license.

At its meeting today, the Executive Board of the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) decided to delicense Univerzal banka a.d. Beograd and to appoint the Deposit Insurance Agency its administrator. For the first time, the NBS has forced closing down a private bank. In the past years, three state-held banks were closed.
