Economists think that Romania´s economy is far from being ready for the euro. The convergence process may take decades.

The chief economist at Raiffeisen Bank Romania Ionut Dumitro thinks that Romania may take 20 to 30 years in order to fulfill the convergence criteria. However, no country was ever perfectly fit for the Eurozone, Dumitro says. Initially, the Romanian government intended to join the Eurozone in 2015.
