Rise in Austrian Unemployment Rate

At the end of February, 380,000 persons were unemployed. This is a rise of 5.2%. At the EU level, Austria´s unemployment rate is still the lowest.

Due to the cold wave, more persons were unemployed in February. 310,064 persons had no employment, 70,396 people attended trainings. In total, the number of unemployed rose by 5.2% to 380,460 persons. As a result, the number of unemployed grew by 18,701 persons against February 2011. The construction industry registered a rise in unemployment by 9.2%.
