Record Low for Interest Rates on Austrian Sovereign Bonds

For bond investors, Austria is a safe haven. Since the beginning of the year, the interest rate on sovereign bonds was down from 3.1% to 1.9%.

Despite the loss of its triple-A in January, Austria becomes a low-interest country. In January, the U.S. rating agency downgraded Austria from „AAA“ to „AA+“. Nevertheless, the interest rates on sovereign bonds continue the downward trend. For Fitch and Moody´s, Austria has still the best rating. In June, Fitch confirmed the „AAA“ rating.
