OSCE’s Contribution to the Protection of National Minorities to be Discussed in Vienna

Representatives from the 57 OSCE participating States, civil society and international organizations will meet in Vienna on 29 October to discuss the OSCE’s contribution to the protection of national minorities, assessing the achievements, exploring the challenges and identifying ways to address remaining gaps.

Participants will approach the discussions through the prism of the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities’ (HCNM) Recommendations and Guidelines, which clarify relevant international standards on the rights of persons belonging to national minorities and provide participating States with practical advice on their implementation.
