The manufacturer of ball bearing systems NKE made substantial investments during the last years. NKE currently suffers from a weak order intake, which is a late consequence of the economic slump in 2009. After years of strongly rising sales, in 2009 the sales figure began to stagnate (€ 43.9m). Profits were still satisfying then. However, in 2010, orders went down drastically.

The wind power segment has large overcapacities. According to NKE, customers became more cautious. This has been observed in the most important market Germany as well as in the second biggest export market China.

However, NKE is fully convinced from its expansion course. “We have deepened our vertical integration, hired new employees and enlarged the distribution and technical segments.” Besides this, NKE has opened a new sales agency in Shanghai.

Currently, NKE employs about 220 workers. A new hiring process has started in order to recruit new staff for the growth markets. NKE has been founded in 1996 and produce for ball bearing systems for the railway, the automotive and the wind power sector.
