MTH Handels-Holding of Josef Taus permitted to acquire German retail chain Mäc-Geiz

The sale of the insolvent German retail trade chain Mäc-Geiz has been completed. Anti-trust authorities have approved the takeover of the German company by MTH Handels-Holding GmbH (Vienna) controlled by the Austrian industrialist Josef Taus.

Thus, MTH has taken over 184 out of 260 branches and 1,300 employees of the German discount chain selling household goods.

The sale contract was signed on August 20, 2010. The purchase price hasn't been revealed. The retail trade holding MTH includes retail chains Libro and Pagro as well as the German discount chain Pfennigpfeiffer. Mäc-Geiz had filed for bankruptcy in May.
