Despite the skeptical citizens of Latvia and the crisis in the Eurozone, the Latvian government wants to introduce the euro in 2014.

Today, Latvia´s Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis emphasized that Latvia will enter the Eurozone at the beginning of 2014. The Commission of the EU expects that the Baltic country will submit an application next year. The ECB must approve the accession. After Estonia, Latvia would be the second Baltic country in the Eurozone and number eighteen in the monetary union.
