Labor Costs: No Clear Trend in CESEE

In the Baltic countries and in Romania, unit labor costs rose most. In Slovenia and in the Czech Republic, by contrast, unit labor costs were down.
After the outbreak of the financial crisis in 2008/09, labor costs developed completely different in the CESEE countries.
In the first nine months of 2013, unit labor costs rose by 1.0% in the EU. The strongest increase was observed in the Baltic states. Estonia (+8.1%) is followed by Lithuania, Latvia and Romania.
