Sales are falling particularly in food, drinks, tobacco, petrol, books and computer equipment.

Continuing the trend of the previous eight months, the volume of retail sales fell 2.1 per cent in December and 1.9 per cent in all 2012 when measured against the same periods of 2011, the Central Statistical Office announced this week.
