Growing Capital Shortfall at Volksbanken Group

The Austrian bank will need another € 200m in order to comply with the EBA’s capital requirements. The price for the sale of VBI might be reduced to € 500m.

After Erste Group and Raiffeisen Group, Volksbanken Group (VBAG) is now also suffering from a widening capital shortfall. Due to the loss in the third quarter of the year, the bank would need an additional € 200m compared to summer 2011, Austrian newspaper “Wirtschaftsblatt” reported.
