The months of courtship were in vain. The Russian enterprises Gazprom and Sintez allowed the period prescribed for the privatization of Greek gas company Depa to expire.

After the burst privatization of gas enterprise Depa, Athens is now working on damage control. Russian energy enterprise Gazprom was considered the only serious candidate for the Greek gas company which is held by 65 percent by the state.
