The chairman of the Austrian Freedom Party, Heinz-Christian Strache, calls for the creation of a “core Europe” with a new currency.

Strache is convinced that the collapse of the Euro-area would not ruin Europe and wants to create a own currency area. Possible member countries could be Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Austria. This step would require the leaving of these countries from the Euro-area. Other member states could be left with a “weak” Euro.

For Strache it is the right time to talk about alternatives and to introduce a rethinking. “It would be naïve to believe that a single country is strong enough to leave the Euro-zone.”

According to the member of the European Parliament, Andreas Mölzer (FPÖ), the economic stability of France is not indisputable. However, a core-Europe without the French-German axis would be impossible.

For the FPÖ, Greece is already bankrupt: “This fact has to be accepted”. Banks should renounce the half of their claims. Furthermore, the FPÖ recommends to establish a separate insolvency act for banks.
