Final Results of Austria Presidential Election - Alexander van der Bellen Becomes New President

700,000 votes from polling stations have now been counted. Alexander Van der Bellen has won ahead of his rival Norbert Hofer by 50.3 to 49.7 percent. Thus Alexander van der Bellen, who has the support of the Greens, will become the first Green President of the Republic of Austria.

As many as 885.4k voting cards for postal voting were issued, representing nearly 14 percent of all Austrian 6.382 million voters.

The result has been decided after 700,000 postal ballots has ben counted today.

Final results of the election has been announced at 16:23 local time by Interior Minister Wolfgang Sobotka.
