The proposal by the Minister for officials, Gabriele Heinisch-Hosek, to introduce a minimum wage of € 1300, is mere populism, according to the Economic Chamber.

The demand of Minister Gabriele Heinisch-Hosek for a statutory minimum wage of 1,300 euro runs into criticism. Martin Gleitsmann, head of the Social Policy Division of the Austrian Economic Chamber (WKÖ) says: "In Austria, negotiations on wages and salaries correspond to the social partners and are in the best hands with practitioners and experts from the individual industries.…
