Axel Hummel Appointed CEO of Sberbank Europe

Sberbank Europe AG announces the appointment of Axel Hummel as its new CEO, following the resignation of Mark Arnold. The appointment is effective 22 October 2014, subject to regulatory approval. Sberbank Europe AG is based in Vienna.

Axel Hummel was previously CEO of Sberbank Hungary and succeeds Mark Arnold who has resigned from his position as CEO of Sberbank Europe AG, having decided to return to the UK to take up a new professional challenge.

Prior to Sberbank Hungary, from 2006 to 2012 Axel Hummel was CEO of now Sberbank Serbia.

From 2004 to 2005 he was based in Romania, first as General Manager of ProCredit Bank Romania, then as President of Libra Bank Romania.

Axel Hummel has also worked for Commerzbank, KPMG and Citibank in Germany.

He graduated from the University of Bayreuth with a diploma in bank, financial and industrial management.

Markus Krause (Chief Risk Officer),
Christian Kubitschek (Chief Financial Officer),
Valentin Mihov (Strategy), David O’Mahony (Chief Information/Operations Officer), and
Igor Strehl (Corporate Banking).
