About 61% of the Austrian citizens are against further bank aids by the Austrian state. Economists fear that the bank aids are lost forever.

According to a survey carried out by Gallup on behalf of Wirtschaftsblatt, 61% of the respondents reject further aids for domestic banks. Since 2008, the Austrian state has injected € 7.5bn in Austrian banks. Direct capital injections reached € 3.484bn, the volume of the participation capital amounts to € 4.1bn.
