“My visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina is a further mosaic stone in the close political, economic and human relationship structure between our states. For Austria as neighbour of the region, the stabilisation of the Western Balkans’ countries has a special priority. I am glad that Bosnia and Herzegovina has managed to return to the path of reform, as also has been clearly stated in the European Commissions progress report last week. The entering into force of the EU Stabilisation and Association Agreement on 1 June was an encouraging step. Now it is upon us to continue the reform process in a dynamic manner”, Secretary General for Foreign Affairs, Michael Linhart stated in Sarajevo.

The visits’ agenda included meetings with the country’s political leadership as well as with the top echelons of the international administration.

Moreover there was a meeting with the country’s religious leaders.

“The current developments in the areas of migration, radicalisation and fight against terrorism make it clear that the Western Balkans are a key partner for the EU”, Linhart closed.
