The Austrian opposition, the Green Party foremost, is putting more pressure on the government to create a parliamentary investigation committee for problem bank Hypo Group Alpe Adria.

According to deputy party leader and financial spokesman of the Greens Werner Kogler, the “Council of the Wise” cannot take the place of a parliamentary investigation but would merely be a “Council of Whitewashing”. The online petition tabled by the opposition has up to now been signed by almost 25,000 citizens.
