Only eight days are left for the management of Austrian Airlines to agree on a new collective agreement with the employees. An acceptable solution for both sides may be barely found.

In order to fulfill the austerity plan given by the holding company Lufthansa, CEO Jaan Albrecht must reduce expenses by € 220m in 2012. The biggest and most complicated part in Albrecht´s agenda is the reduction of personnel costs. Otherwise, a cost explosion threatens. Due to salary increases, savings realized in 2010 are already completely offset.
