In an annual survey about “Transatlatic Trends” of US fund German Marshall Fund only 44 percent of Turks consider an EU membership as good idea. In 2004 it was still 73 percent while in 2012 it dropped to 48 percent.

In the light of the slow accession negotiation process, 34 percent of Turkish citizens are opposed to an EU membership. Last year there were 29 percent opponents.
