According to calculations by Statistics Austria, 98.9 million tons of cargo was transported by Austrian and foreign rail operating companies in 2009, representing a reduction of 18.7%.
In the same period the transport performance (the product of transport volume and distance) on the Austrian section decreased by almost 19% to a total of 17.8 billion ton kilometres.
