According to the Croatian newspaper “Jutarnji list”, the Southstream pipeline may run across Croatia instead of Hungary. The prospects for Croatia would be 50:50. Costs are expected to come at € 600m. The South Stream pipeline should ship Russian natural gas to Italy. In total, costs should reach about € 25bn.

The Russian government and Gazprom are said to decide within the next two months. The construction of the pipeline segment should begin in 2015. The segment has a length of 270 km and would connect the pipeline in Serbia with the Slovenian and Italian pipeline network.
