In the first half of 2012, the Slovenian construction output was down by 16.5% against the reference period of 2011. According to analysts the low will be reached this year. Since 2008, the number of insolvencies in the construction sector was up remarkably.

According to the research institute Buildecon, the civil engineering sector will reach the turnaround in 2014. The construction of the residential building segment will shrink further, however. Due to the banking crisis, the number of unsold properties is still high. Buildecon expects that many infrastructure projects, which were postponed in the last years, will be realized in the coming years. A part of these projects will be financed by the EU.
