Orange Takeover Finally Approved
After more than ten months, the EU Commission approved the takeover of the third-largest Austrian telecommunication operator by the competitor Hutchison Austria.

In February, Hutchison Austria and Orange announced to plan a merger. Orange Austria is owned by Télécom France (35%) and Mid European Partners (65%). In the last months, the Commission and the Austrian Competition Authority (BWB) expressed severe concerns that the merger may be disadvantageous for consumers as the number of telecommunication operators decreases from four to three.…
