OMV: Gas Reservoir Found in Southern Tunisia

OMV has been successful again in southern Tunisia. "The two additional findings are of economic and strategic importance and round off the success of the present OMV-drilling campaign, with a total of nine strikes in a row."

"With this, the likelihood of further economically promising discoveries, both in the area of the concession and also in the surrounding Jenein Sud exploration permit area" increases, announced the stock exchange listed group.

The exploration well Khouloud-1 reached a total depth of 4,042 meters. Benefsej-1, up to now the most successful well in the license area reached a depth of 4,223 meters. OMV and the Tunisian national oil company ETAP hold 50% each of the Nawara production license 700 kilometers south of the Tunisian capital Tunis.

The first activities of OMV in Tunisia started in the early 70s. Through acquisition of the international E&P activities of Preussag in 2003, OMV gained access to seven producing oil fields in the southeast of the country. The most rich one is the field of Ashtart.
