Moderate Increase in Foreign Trade
In January 2012, Austrian foreign trade grew slower than in 2011. Exports increased stronger than imports.

According to preliminary results by Statistics Austria, total imports amounted to € 10.06bn and total exports amounted to € 9.34bn in January 2012. Austrian imports increased by 4.2% and Austrian exports rose by 7.4% compared to the same month in 2011. The global foreign trade balance showed a deficit of € 0.72bn. In January 2011, the deficit was € 0.95bn.
