Ambassador Johannes K. Haindl is a lawyer and trained diplomat. He was the ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Vienna from 2015 to 2019. He has gained diplomatic experience in Germany, the United States, the Czech Republic, Turkey and the Western Balkans. He is married and has 3 children.

The German Embassy in Vienna deals exclusively with bilateral relations between Austria and Germany.

The focus is on the exchange between the two countries.

Germany is Austria's most important trading partner and Austria is consistently among the top 10 in German foreign trade.
