For Austrians, the government did not take the threat of losing the “triple-A” serious enough.

According to a survey by the institute Oekonsult, 80% of the respondents blame the Austrian government for the loss of the triple A. Last week, the U.S. rating agency downgraded Austrian sovereign bonds from “AAA” to “AA+”. For 65% of the interviewees, the downgrade was not surprising. Besides that, a clear majority of 85% regards the downgrade to be “politically motivated”.…
