Insurance Industry Records Decline in Premiums

Total premiums written dropped by 0.41% in the period from July to September. The life insurance business was down 7.93%.

In the third quarter of 2011, Austrian insurance companies recorded a slight drop in premiums compared to the same period in the previous year. This is the result of the Financial Market Authority’s (FMA) latest report on the insurance industry. Premiums written (excluding reinsurance) amounted to € 3.77bn which corresponds to a decline of 0.41% year-on-year.
