Austrian Work More than EU Average

According to a report of the Germany Statistical Office, Germans and Austrians tend to work more. The relevance of leisure is shrinking.

Every fourth respondent also works on Saturdays. In 1996, about 20% of the respondents said to work on Saturdays. About 9.6% of the interviewees says to work in the night (1996: 6.8%).
In Germany, the average working time per week is 40.7 hours per week. In Austria, the average working time comes at 41.8 hours. In the EU, the average amounts to 40.4 hours.
