Austrian Wage Increases below European Average

Real incomes are expected to go up by 0.8% next year. The average rate for Europe will be 1.3%.

Austrian wages and salaries will increase by an average rate of 3% nominally in 2012. This is the result of the latest “Salary Trends” study of the personnel consultancy ECA International. In real terms, however, the plus will only be 0.8%. In 2011, wages were up by 2.8% nominally on average, which corresponded to a real loss of 0.4%.
