With 410,000 job-seekers, unemployment has never been higher. Nevertheless, Austria has the lowest unemployment quota in the EU.

Austria´s unemployment was up by 6.9% in January. This was mainly due to the weak economic development. Moreover, the weather conditions caused a substantial increase in unemployment in the construction sector.
